ABOUT MISS SIERRA HYMAN
I graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville in May 2018. Bethalto has been my hometown since birth, but I am proud to be a Columbus Jaguar and supporting the Edwardsville Tigers!

I am extremely proud of my family. I have a Yorkshire Terrier named Macie whom I love to spoil. My best friend, who happens to be my mother, is also a teacher in Bethalto District 8. My dad is a softball coach for Bethalto. My brother just graduated from Civic Memorial as Valedictorian and is going on to SIUE's Computer Engineering Honor's Program.
In my spare time, I like to watch Blue's Hockey, spend time with my grandparents, and find deals at Goodwill. Id have

Remind is a safe tool to text or email parents. I will use this tool throughout the year to communicate important information regarding your child.
It is essential for families to keep updated in the classroom.

STUDENT PLANNERS
How will student planners be used in Miss Hyman's class?
ASSIGNMENTS AND ASSESSMENTS
Students in 4th grade are responsible for keeping track of their own homework assignments, studying for tests, and other important information. The student planner will help students remember what to do after they leave the school for the day. It is also a way for parents to know the homework assignments and assessments.
COMMUNICATION
Planners are a vital tool in communicating with families of students. Parents will receive information through their child's planner, Remind 101, and through mail that goes home.

I also encourage parents to communicate with me this way! Anything that I would need to know can be communicated through writing in the student's planner. You can also reach me by email (shyman@ecusd7.org).

BAND AND ORCHESTRA
Some students may choose to participate in band or orchestra. They may use their planners as a tool to remember assignments, schedules, and dates as well. Students should do this on their own.
​
When students miss class for band or orchestra, they must make up the work they missed in Miss Hyman's class by taking it home. This work will be due the following day. Students should use their planners to keep track of these missed assignments.
